The Surface Laptop 4 has surfaced again, this time through alleged images that a tipster shared on Twitter. The pictures appear to come from a US FCC filing and show the device next to a ruler, alongside the rumoured Surface Pro 8. According to a separate report, both Microsoft machines could launch as early as January next year.
The leak gives an early, if limited, look at two unannounced devices and offers the first apparent model numbers tied to them. Here is what the images and the accompanying report actually reveal.
What the Surface Laptop 4 leak shows
The two images were posted by tipster Cozyplanes on Twitter and are said to depict the rumoured Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 and the Surface Pro 8. They look like they were pulled from an FCC listing, showing the back of the Surface Laptop 4 and the front of the Surface Pro 8.
There is not much to glean from the Surface Laptop 4 shot. It reveals a black back panel, rounded edges, and a Microsoft logo. The Surface Pro 8 image shows the front of the device with thick bezels, much like earlier Surface Pro models, a white back panel, and some grooves around the body.
Leaked model numbers
The tipster also listed model numbers for both devices, which line up with the kind of detail an FCC filing typically carries.

When could the Surface Laptop 4 launch?
A report by Windows Central states that the Surface Laptop 4 and Surface Pro 8 could arrive as early as January 2021. Both devices could feature Intel 11th generation processors paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics, and the report adds that the Surface Laptop 4 will also come in AMD variants.
