MediaTek has launched two new 5G processors in its Dimensity series: the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and the Dimensity 1100. Both chips are built on a 6-nanometer process and are designed to deliver better artificial intelligence, improved camera handling and stronger multimedia performance. According to MediaTek, smartphones from Realme will be among the first to ship with these chipsets.
Brands including Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Realme already build smartphones around the Dimensity lineup, so these two additions slot directly into a competitive 5G chip market.
MediaTek Dimensity 1200 specifications
The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 is an octa-core processor. It pairs a single ARM Cortex-A78 Ultra core clocked at 3GHz with 2X L2 cache, three more ARM Cortex-A78 cores running up to 2.6GHz, and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores running up to 2GHz.
Graphics are handled by the Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU, and the chip supports up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM. It can drive displays up to 2520x1080 pixels at a 168Hz refresh rate.
Camera and connectivity
On the imaging side, the Dimensity 1200 supports cameras up to 200 megapixels, with sensor support listed at 200-megapixel, 32-megapixel and 16-megapixel. For connectivity it offers Wi-Fi 6, multimode 5G, 4G, GPS, Bluetooth 5.2 and FM radio.
MediaTek Dimensity 1100 specifications
The Dimensity 1100 5G uses four Arm Cortex-A78 cores with a maximum speed of 2.6GHz alongside four Arm Cortex-A55 cores topping out at 2GHz. It also includes the Arm Mali-G77 MC9 GPU and supports 16GB of LPDDR4x memory.
The Dimensity 1100 supports a 144Hz refresh rate at a 2520x1080 pixel resolution. For cameras, it supports 108-megapixel, 32-megapixel and 16-megapixel sensors.
