Ahead of its official debut, Huawei has confirmed the chipset powering the Huawei Mate X2, its next foldable smartphone, through the company official Weibo account. The Mate X2 will run on the Kirin 9000 SoC and arrives as an upgrade to the Huawei Mate X that launched in 2019. A leaked render has also offered an early glimpse of the handset design, including its dual selfie camera and in-folding build.
Huawei Mate X2 launch date and processor
Huawei used Weibo to reveal that the Mate X2 will be launched on 22 February. The same channel confirmed the phone runs on the Kirin 9000 chipset, the detail the company chose to share before saying much else about the device.
So far Huawei has not released full specifications for the foldable. A launch poster shared on Weibo showed an in-folding design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Huawei is expected to use a new hinge for inward folding. The Mate X2 was also spotted earlier on the Tina website with model numbers TET-AN00 and TET-AN10.
Leaked render and camera details
An alleged render posted by a tipster on Weibo shows a dual-camera setup on the outer display, with the sensors sitting in hole-punch cutouts. One of these sensors is said to be 16 megapixels. The main folding screen, by contrast, shows no hole or camera, leaving only thin bezels.
The same leaks describe a richer rear system. According to the tipster, the Mate X2 could feature a quad rear camera setup paired with a sizeable battery and fast charging.
- Outer display: dual-camera setup with hole-punch cutouts, one sensor reportedly 16 megapixels
- Main folding screen: no camera cutout, thin bezels
- Rear: 50-megapixel primary, 16-megapixel secondary, 12-megapixel third and 8-megapixel sensors
- Spotted on Tina with model numbers TET-AN00 and TET-AN10

In a separate Weibo post, the tipster claimed the foldable carries an 8.01-inch inward-folding display alongside a 6.45-inch secondary screen. A 4400mAh battery with 66-watt fast charging support is also expected. As the maker of the device, Huawei has yet to confirm these figures.
