Huawei Fits High-Quality Sound into Small Earbuds, Launches FreeBuds Pro 5
Following the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the Mate 70 Air, Huawei has now taken a major step into the audio segment. The company has announced its latest wireless earbuds, the FreeBuds Pro 5, and pre-bookings are now open. Users can reserve them from Huawei’s official authorized store, where a first glimpse of their design was also revealed. According to the company, the FreeBuds Pro 5 will be officially launched within this year.
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 is billed by the company as a “flagship audio experience” (via Huawei Central). Its most notable feature is that it is the world’s first earbud to support NearLink Audio technology. According to Huawei, this technology aims to make audio transmission faster, stable, and lossless. The company says these earbuds will be able to deliver low latency and high-quality sound with transmission rates of up to 16Mbps.
While Huawei hasn’t elaborated on the technical aspects of NearLink Audio, it does say that this technology will ensure better connectivity and seamless multi-device linking between the earbuds and devices. This means that users will be able to switch audio between multiple Huawei devices, such as phones, tablets, or laptops, simultaneously without disconnection.
He Gang, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Unit, shared a post on Weibo, stating that the FreeBuds Pro 5 will be officially launched this month. According to him, the company could possibly introduce it alongside its next flagship smartphone, the Mate 80 series.
Huawei also shared information about four color variants of the FreeBuds Pro 5, including Snow White, Frost Silver, Earth Gold, and Sky Blue. The company also teased an “Earth Gold” variant, which features a sleek golden rim on the earbuds, giving them a premium look. Huawei hasn’t shared any details about their battery life, drivers, or noise cancellation features.
