Samsung has launched its new Galaxy Watch 8 series, which includes two models – Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Both smartwatches have Samsung’s new Exynos W1000 chip (5-Core, 3nm), which is more powerful and power-efficient than before. Both Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic have Super AMOLED display, which supports up to 3000nits brightness and Always-On Display. Battery backup has also been improved compared to the previous model. Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic price, availability
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 has been launched in 40mm and 44mm variants, which will be available in Graphite and Silver color options. At the same time, Watch 8 Classic has come in only 46mm size and will be available in Black and White colors. The price of Galaxy Watch 8 is Rs 36,999 (40mm) and Rs 39,999 (44mm), while Watch 8 Classic has been launched at Rs 50,999.
In the global market, the starting price of the vanilla model is $349 (about Rs 30,000), while the Classic model is priced at $499 (about Rs 42,800). Both models are available for pre-order and their sale will start from July 25.
Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic specifications
The Galaxy Watch 8 has 1.34-inch (40mm) and 1.47-inch (44mm) Super AMOLED displays, which come with Sapphire Crystal protection. The watch weighs 30g (40mm) and 34g (44mm). It has 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. The battery capacity is 325mAh in the 40mm model and 435mAh in the 44mm model.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic model has a 1.34-inch (438 x 438 pixels) Super AMOLED display protected by Sapphire Crystal. It weighs 63.5g and comes with a stainless steel bezel. The Watch 8 Classic also has 2GB of RAM but the storage has been increased to 64GB, which is the largest Galaxy Watch storage to date. It has a 445mAh battery.
Both Watch 8 models run on Wear OS 6, which comes with Samsung’s custom interface One UI 8 Watch. For charging, both have WPC-based fast wireless charging.
Both watches have Samsung’s new BioActive Sensor, which includes features like Optical Bio-signal, Electrical Heart Signal and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis. Apart from this, Temperature Sensor, Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor and Light Sensor are also available.
3D Hall Sensor is available extra in Watch 8 Classic, which makes the classic model more advanced.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series has connectivity features like LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 2.4+5GHz, NFC and L1+L5 Dual-Frequency GPS (GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo). These watches come with 5ATM + IP68 rating and are MIL-STD-810H certified, that is, they can easily withstand sweat, water and shock.
To use the Galaxy Watch 8 series watches, your smartphone must be Android 12 or above, and it must have at least 1.5GB of RAM.
