Xiaomi 17 with Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition processor launched in China; learn about price and specifications

Xiaomi has expanded its number series. Three impressive smartphones, the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, have been launched in China. In this post, we’ll focus on the base model, the Xiaomi 17 5G, which boasts powerful performance, an advanced camera, and a large battery. Notably, the device is the first in the world to feature Qualcomm’s 5th-gen Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition chipset. Let’s take a look at the full specifications and price.

The Xiaomi 17 has been launched in its home market, China, in three storage variants. The 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model has been launched for ¥4499, or approximately ₹55,800. The 12GB RAM + 512GB variant is priced at ¥4799 (approximately Rs 59,700), and the top variant, 16GB RAM + 512GB, is priced at ¥4999 (approximately Rs 62,100). The phone is available for order in China and will go on sale from September 27th. Price-wise, it could give other brands in the premium segment a run for their money. Color options include Black, White, Ice Melting Blue, and Snow Mountain Pink.

Specifications aside, the phone’s display is impressive. It features a 6.3-inch ultra-large R-angle screen, which comes with the new M10 Luminous material. It features a 2656 x 1220 pixel resolution, M10 12-bit OLED 20:9 LTPO panel, 1-120Hz variable refresh rate, up to 3500 nits maximum brightness, 5,000,000:1 (minimum) contrast ratio, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 1920Hz PWM dimming, DC dimming support. It weighs just 191 grams, giving it a lightweight and premium feel.

The Xiaomi 17 will feature a combination of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, which allows the phone to deliver ultra-fast performance. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition chipset. For photography, it features a triple camera setup consisting of a 23mm f/1.67 Light and Shadow Hunter 950 primary sensor, a 60mm f/2.0 Samsung JN5 telephoto sensor, and a 17mm f/2.2 OV50M ultra-wide sensor. This setup provides users with a great experience, from low-light photography to portrait and wide-angle shots. The front features a 50MP ultra-sensitive selfie camera with autofocus and an f/2.2 aperture.

The company has made significant changes in the battery department. It features a larger 7,000mAh battery that supports 100W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, magnetic charging, and 22.5W wired and wireless reverse charging.

The Xiaomi 17 is also very robust in terms of durability. The smartphone comes with IP68 and IP69 ratings, making it completely water and dust resistant. Additionally, it features USB 3.2 Gen1 connectivity, allowing for high-speed data transfers.
