Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy XR headset during its Galaxy Unpacked event in October 2025. This is the South Korean tech giant’s first extended reality (XR) headset, which integrates augmented reality (AR) images into the real-world environment through two built-in lenses. It features hand tracking, allowing users to control widgets and apps with hand gestures using the underlying sensor. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Generation 2 processor. The 16GB RAM + 256GB storage variant of the Samsung Galaxy XR Headset is priced at $1,799 (approximately Rs. 158,000) in the US. In South Korea, the 256GB storage variant is priced at KRW 2,690,000 (approximately Rs. 165,000). The South Korean company is also offering the Samsung Galaxy XR headset for $149 (approximately Rs. 13,000) per month for 12 months. The Galaxy XR headset comes in a Silver Shadow color. It is currently available exclusively through the company’s online store in the US and South Korea.
Samsung Galaxy XR Headset Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy XR Headset runs on the Android XR platform. It features a 6.3-micron pixel pitch micro OLED display with a resolution of 3552×3840 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. The screen also has a 95 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, a 109-degree horizontal field of view, and a 100-degree vertical field of view. It also features Google’s Gemini AI assistant.
Samsung’s new Galaxy XR headset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage. It features a multi-camera setup that supports 3D photo and video capture at 6.5-megapixel resolution with an 18mm focal length and f/2.0 aperture. It also features two pass-through cameras that allow users to view superimposed AR elements. The Samsung Galaxy XR headset features six world-facing tracking cameras, four eye-tracking cameras, five inertial measurement units, a depth sensor, and a flicker sensor. It also supports iris recognition for security. It also features two two-way speaker setups with a woofer and a tweeter. The Galaxy XR headset also features a six-microphone array with beamforming.
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support. The headset has a battery life of up to 2 hours and offers up to 2.5 hours of video playback. There’s also an external battery pack that powers the headset. The Galaxy XR headset also supports prescription lenses with an interpupillary distance (IPD) of 54mm to 70mm.
