Apple’s ‘affordable’ MacBook Neo launched in India with A18 Pro chip and 16-hour battery life; learn the price
Expanding its Mac lineup, Apple has launched the new 13-inch MacBook Neo. According to the company, this model is positioned as an entry-level device in the Mac ecosystem. The MacBook Neo features Apple’s A18 Pro chip and features a fanless design, ensuring silent operation during use. The laptop features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, 500 nits of brightness, 8GB of unified memory, and 256GB or 512GB of SSD storage. It is offered in four color options and runs on macOS.
Regarding pricing, Apple has priced the 256GB storage variant of the MacBook Neo at ₹69,900, while the 512GB model comes in ₹79,900. It is available in Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo colors. According to the company, orders for the laptop have already begun in approximately 30 countries, including India, through the Apple Online Store and the Apple Store app. Sales in India will begin on March 11th at Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Resellers.
Regarding the MacBook Neo’s design, it features an aluminum body and rounded corner design. It weighs approximately 1.23 kilograms. It features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408×1506 pixels and 219 PPI. The display comes with 500 nits of brightness, 1 billion color support, and an anti-reflective coating, which is claimed to improve visibility in varying lighting conditions.
For performance, it features Apple’s A18 Pro chip, which includes a 6-core CPU (2 performance + 4 efficiency cores), a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. According to the company, this chip can be up to 50 percent faster than a PC with an Intel Core Ultra 5 processor in general tasks like web browsing and can deliver up to three times better performance in on-device AI workloads. Photo editing is also claimed to be nearly doubled.
The laptop comes with 8GB of unified memory, along with 256GB and 512GB SSD storage options. It features a Magic Keyboard and a large multi-touch Force Touch trackpad. The 512GB variant also offers Touch ID support, allowing for biometric authentication and Apple Pay.
The new affordable MacBook features a 1080p FaceTime HD camera with image processing optimizations. Audio features a dual microphone array with directional beamforming technology, which helps reduce background noise and isolate user voice. Sound output is handled by dual side-firing speakers that support Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos.
For connectivity, the MacBook Neo has two USB C ports, which support charging, external display, and accessory connectivity. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also present. Wireless connectivity supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. Battery-wise, it packs a 36.5Wh lithium polymer battery, which the company claims can deliver up to 16 hours of video streaming and approximately 11 hours of wireless web use on a single charge. A 20W USB C power adapter is also included.
