Popular camera company Leica launches Leitz Phone 3 smartphone, digital camera fails in front of it!

Leica, a popular camera and lens manufacturer, has launched the Leitz Phone 3, which as claimed by the company is equipped with amazing camera technology. Not only for photography, but the company has also equipped it with powerful hardware focusing on the needs of all types of users. The phone comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. It has a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ Pro IGZO OLED display. The phone gets power from a 5,000mAh battery. Leica has launched the Leitz Phone 3 smartphone exclusive to Japan. Its sale will start from April 19. At present, the company has not announced its price nor has any information been shared yet regarding its launch in other global markets including India.

The biggest feature of Leitz Phone 3 is its camera system, so let’s start with this. The phone has a large circular module at the back, in which a single camera is available. The main camera is a wide-angle 47.2-megapixel lens with 6x digital zoom. This impressive lens is paired with a large 1-inch CMOS image sensor for superior low-light performance. The sensor comes with a 19 mm focal length, which is between the main and ultrawide of most flagships like the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

To take smartphone photography a step further, Leica has included the “Leitz Looks” software suite in the Leitz Phone 3, which lets you achieve the signature aesthetics of the three popular Leica M-lenses. These include Noctilux-M, Summilux-M 28mm and Summilux-M 35mm.

According to the company, this unique feature goes beyond ordinary filters. The “Variable Aperture” function lets you simulate different aperture values, giving you finer controls over Bokeh, Vignetting and Spotlight effects, resulting in capturing stunning photos with realistic lighting, precise object separation and an unmistakable Leica color palette. The front camera is equipped with a 12.6-megapixel CMOS image sensor with effective pixel count, which has f/2.3 aperture with 27 mm focal length. This camera has the capability of digital zoom up to 8x.

Apart from the cameras, the other hardware is also no less than a flagship. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor is available in the phone, with which up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage has been added. Storage can be expanded up to 1TB via microSDXC card. The phone has a 6.6-inch WUXGA+ (2730 × 1260 pixels) Pro IGZO OLED display. It has a 3.5 mm audio jack with Type-C port. The phone includes Wi-Fi IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, fingerprint sensor, face unlock, IPX5-IPX8 build, and a 5,000mAh battery. It measures 77 × 161 × 9.3 mm and weighs 209 grams.
